About Us

Hello:

My name is Malcolm Thompson. I want to thank you for considering Thompson Custom Remodeling as you plan your next home renovation project. I’ve been renovating homes for more than thirty years starting with Victorian homes in Morristown, New Jersey and Cornwall, Vermont. In 1996 I began my business in Moorhead, MN. This coincided with the Great Red River Flood of 1997 after which I completed numerous cleanups and restorations in Moorhead, Fargo, and Grand Forks. Aside from working for clients, Thompson Custom Remodeling does the occasional house flip and devotes some pro bono time each year to needy causes in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Specialities:

  • Projects involving repair and renovation of bathrooms; replacing failing tiled walls with fiberglass tubs/surrounds.
  • Custom-made shower stalls, ceramic tile, and glass block.
  • Luxurious finish carpentry and cabinet work for your bath, kitchen, or office.
  • Converting cold, uninviting basements into warm and functional playrooms or bedrooms compliant with fire and safety codes.

Whether its building a plush kitchen, den, or bath; or simple sheet rocking a storage area, I can do it economically, tastefully, and as painlessly as possible.

Handyman service and rental property care:

  • No job is too small.
  • If you need a door installed, holes in wall repaired, a loose step fixed, I’m your man.
  • Emergency handyman service for homeowners and landlords.
  • Never an overtime charge for evening or weekend emergencies.

Insurance and damage claims:

  • Experience working with insurance companies to repair damage from floods and leaks.
  • I’ll show you ways to get the most repair value out of your settlement claim.

Why Thompson Custom Remodeling might be the company for you:

  • I give polite, punctual, and neat service.
  • I listen to what you want and suggest the best ways to deliver it.
  • I’ll tell you what I’m going to do and why.
  • I control quality, because I’m the one doing the work.
  • I do one project at a time (no disappearing acts!)

 What projects won’t I do:

  • New additions
  • Roofing
  • Carpet
  • Large siding and gutter projects
  • Large windows requiring two or more installers
  • Work that violates code and safety.
